On this month of Ask Rach, I figured I would touch on a variety of topics so let’s get into it…

FASHION

Please tell me where you purchased the orange dress!! @ju_hinson

  • I received so many questions about the dresses that I wore during my birthday weekend with Bryan. I am really trying to be better about getting those details to you all so let me start now. The orange cutout dress was gifted from Vici Dolls. I used to only wear black, white, and a pop of jean but since moving to Miami I have embraced wearing colors. Additionally, the deep v, black maxi dress is from Free People, and it was gifted to me from my little sister Heather.

RELATIONSHIPS

How did you share career goals with men when dating? I feel like I have to downplay my job and my goals. @selinsirin95

  • I truly relate to this question because I suffered from the same thing when dating prior to Bryan. I learned that men loved the idea of me but not the reality of me. The men I dated loved that I was an attorney but did not like the work I had to do to sustain that career path. They were impressed with my intelligence, work ethic, and passion but then weaponized it against me to keep me down in the relationship. These men made me feel guilty for my ambition. The truth is that they were intimidated and were trying to bring me down. I will never forget my mom telling me not to let these men dim my light. If you are finding yourself in a position where someone will not allow you to shine, then you need to remove yourself from that relationship. The man for you will appreciate, love, and be inspired by your goals. He will recognize that it is beneficial for the future of your relationship.

LAW

Curious on your take, as an attorney on the Amber Heard/Johnny Depp trial. @staceybstanfield

  • Honestly, I have not been following the trial. I catch the headlines here and there, but it is such a mess. It feels like we are seeing and listening to something we are not supposed to see or know. The details that are emerging about this toxic relationship are disturbing and embarrassing. I personally want it to stop.

MMWT

You just published an incredible book, what are YOU reading? @thefemisistbookworm

  • Thank you for the compliment!!! I have a stack of books that I am dying to read but the one I just purchased is Seven Days in June by Tia Williams. This was recommended by my friend Traci who has The Stacks Podcast, so I trust her judgment.

MEDIA:

What reality TV are you currently obsessed with? Anything you are excited to watch?

  • You know I love any opportunity to talk about my Real Housewives and we have some exciting seasons ahead of us. The Atlanta franchise starts Sunday, and my friend Sanya Richards Ross is making her debut as a housewife. There are so many headlines surrounding the Beverly Hills Franchise and I cannot wait for that one to start. And we have two new franchises on the horizon…Dubai and Lagos. We are in need of a shake up to the Real Housewives franchise and I think these two international ones will be just what the fans need. As my love for these shows grow, I feel it is only natural for me to do something related to this world…stay tuned.

Also, I just finished Young, Famous and African. I was not a fan. I heard The Ultimatum on Netflix is really good. Should I get into that show?

SELF CARE:

How do you do your brows? Can you share what you use? @aniters97

  • In the famous words of my aunt, “I can show you better than I can tell you.” I do not have a fancy way of doing my eyebrows. I use a black eyeshadow, shape them with a color correcting palette from MAC, and then brush them out with an Anastasia Beverly Hills eyebrow brush.
