How is Bryan adapting to life in LA? @divster34

I know I tend to keep my personal life private these days so I welcome these moments on #AskRach where I can share a little bit with you about me and Bryan. So, Bryan never had to adapt to life in LA because he always wanted to live here. I was the one that actually stopped it from happening. I do not know if I have ever shared this publicly, but Bryan and I were looking for places in Los Angeles right before we announced our engagement to the world. I scouted several places in LA but none of them resonated with us. I ultimately was fearful to move and was not ready to leave my law practice in Dallas, so we decided to make Texas our home. So basically, I am just returning Bryan to the life he always wanted in LA…for years later ☺. He loves the weather, the health and wellness mentality, and the opportunity. He wasted no time settling in and opening his practice here. I am proud to say he is now open for business. You have to check out his website where he offers a variety of chiropractic and wellness services with state-of-the-art equipment. Make sure you check out his website: https://bhdiscandlaser.com/.

- Do you plan on purchasing a home in LA?

Yes!!! We plan on settling in LA and planting roots here. This again is not something we have been public about, but we have started the house searching process. We currently live in a populated area of LA, and I would like to move to a side of town with more space, more land, and less people. As this will be the first time I have purchased a home it is an equally exciting and frustrating process. There is a lot of demand and not much supply. There is a low interest rate for loans but high inflation on the price of homes. Homes are going for hundreds of thousands of dollars over the asking price and require proof of at minimum 20% of the asking price. In the initial stages of the process, I found my dream home. It embodied Texas in California. It had every detail I wanted more. I just knew I would get this home and would even show it to people as if it was my house. Long story short, after making an offer on the house and then countering with an even higher offer, I lost the house to an all-cash offer. This is something I cannot compete with. I know this is probably more information than you asked for, but this is the long way of me saying yes, we plan to purchase and are still hunting for that special place we can call home. Although it is frustrating, we are still hopeful we will find our home soon.

- Which chapter of your book is your favorite? Can’t wait to read! @kimbra.sterling

I cannot believe the book will be here in less than one month and I am beyond terrified and excited for you to read it! Every essay is my favorite and it is so hard to choose just one. That said, I will choose two essays: The Sexual (Mis)education of Rachel Lindsay and In(to) Sanity. The first chapter delves into my Christian upbringing and the unrealistic expectations that are placed upon many regarding sex. It further discusses the inner struggle of being at a crossroads of religion, guilt, shame, sex, and realization. The latter chapter deals with mental health and my journey to discovering it. I had a very unlikely path to therapy but what I gained from it changed the entire trajectory of my life. I truly hope this entire book resonates with readers, but I know that these chapters absolutely will.

So happy to hear that Bryan is in his happy place. I went to the opening event for his practice and he really did seem in his element. You also seemed to be fully integrated into the Los Angeles milieu, connecting easily with everyone who showed up. …

It’s so refreshing hearing about your story, your life choices, your decisions, directly from you. All the negative discussion and accusations was so unbearable. I look forward to hearing more of whatever you have to say. Happy New Year!

The process of looking for a home is overwhelming. I thought it would be something fun and exciting like You see on HGTV. My husband and I were outbid multiple times before we finally got an offer accepted. I couldn’t believe some of the offers on home…
