Moving to Los Angeles last year was a massive step for both Bryan and me. I’d traveled the world as the Bachelorette and lived in Dallas, Austin, New York City, Milwaukee and Miami. I always wanted to live in L.A. but to be honest I was always a little scared and apprehensive. Honestly, I was afraid of being labeled with the Bachelor stereotype of moving to L.A. immediately after the show and chasing fame and attention. I was afraid to lose my job and identity as an attorney. Bryan was always ready. He is the dreamer and the optimist in our relationship. I am less of a risk taker and like to have all of my ducks in a row before acting on any decision. That moment finally came in 2020. After marrying Bryan in 2019, we decided that as my career in LA began to take off, it would be best to pick up and move out the west coast. Finally!!!!

I made the move first to Los Angeles while Bryan wrapped things up in Miami. I will never forget the moment of driving my car down the 405 from Westwood to the Valley. There is this moment as you are driving north, the freeway is wedged in between two large mountainous hills (Bel-Air on one side and Brentwood on the other), and just as you are approaching the 101 the freeway opens up and you see all of the Valley with a backdrop of mountains and blue skies. It takes your breath away. I always take in this moment to recognize how grateful and blessed I am to be here in L.A.

I am even more blessed that I have Bryan here with me now! Before Bryan arrived I wanted to make sure that I moved into a larger place and that everything was all settled in so he could have a smooth transition from Miami to L.A. I found the perfect place for us with plenty of space but sacrificed closet space for a prime location.

That brings me to the mess I called my closet….and by closet I mean a pile of clothes on the floor of an empty room (sadly see attached photo) but bless Bryan for walking into that room everyday and not saying a word.

The “closet” in question was every single piece of clothing I owned, thrown into the abyss, never to be found when needed, or always wrinkled when I was in a rush. Something had to be done, I couldn’t continue digging through piles to get myself dressed in the morning. A change had to be made and I knew it would not come from me. And truthfully, my type A personality was never going to find peace in the middle of such chaos.

I immediately called up my friend Jessica at Jam Creative Studio (@jamxcreative) to express my concerns over my current situation and to ask for help in designing my dream closet. We worked together to come up with an amazing creative concept and spent the last year or so designing, and redesigning the closet of my dreams. Jessica did not disappoint! We worked together to pick out furniture, wall coverings and all the decor. It was like I was designing my very own Clueless closet (we all know the one…)

With the initial creative concept out of the way, we got to work! The wallpaper was our biggest challenge. I loved this stunning floral print and thought the black would really pop! I had never hung wallpaper prior to this, and I certainly was not going to learn the craft now so, we called in the experts!

(we initially ran out of paper for the small white walls pictured above and had to order more… from Ukraine…)

The next step was installing the physical closet itself! I have A LOT of clothes and I needed some real deal, no joke storage solutions.

Once the closet installation was finished, we were ready for our first challenge, to move the piles in! We started by sorting the clothes into categories, pulling out anything with a stain or a tear and then began to hang!

I wish we could have a tap to reveal on the above pictures of these pants because that was SATISFYING.

We swapped all the mismatched plastic and wire hangers for rose gold suede hangers after organizing by style and color for a more cohesive look.

The final result is a dream come true!!

I am obsessed with how it turned out and grateful to Jessica for making our place feel more like home. Additionally, thankful to Jessica for helping relieve some stress and add some organization into my life. The vision became a reality. A girl can dream… and she can also make her dreams come true even in the form of a closet! If only I could keep it as clean as the photos…

Rach your closet is amazing. I have clothes everywhere in my house. I really need to declutter before having a new closet design.

You have spoken to my soul with your honesty about clothing taking over. I’be always had a lot of clothes and shoes but since the pandemic, they’ve taken over my entire room, not just to closet! I realized that before the pandemic, I lowkey used the cl…

This looks great Rachel. You must feel less stressed out when you walked into your closet now. We have lived all over Canada and Europe, so I know how it feels to be in a city now that you admired to live in. All the best to you and Bryan ❤

Rachel, there is so much to love about your closet! Using a spare room with windows is brilliant - the abundance of natural lighting is a major plus for any closet. The boutique style is on-trend and fits what we’ve seen of your style and personality.…
