It is officially Spring! I don’t know about you, but I am really looking forward to tossing the winter weather behind me (LA still has winters y'all…it’s just different) and putting my best foot forward as we slowly emerge into this new season. Similar to how we feel around the new year, when Spring rolls in, the sun starts to shine a little brighter (and a little longer), attitudes shift and yet again, we’re looking for a fresh start. Every year around this time I find myself doing the typical spring cleaning, throwing out things that are broken or that I’ve kept too long and dusting off shelves I forgot existed. I started to think that instead of starting fresh on our goals, (we all HAVE to dust, I’m sorry…) or coming up with new ones for summer, we could collectively check in on our 2022 goals together. As a community I want to see how we’re all doing! If you haven't picked up your list in a while, or realize that some of your goals no longer serve you, a new season is a great time to check in on yourself! If you have checked off some of your boxes, GET IT!!! Comment below and let the Honestly, Rach community celebrate you!!
I’ll start!
My 2022 goal *is* to invest in myself through my relationships, career, family, friendships, fitness, finances, mentality, and my creativity and dreams.
Since January, I have made it a point to visit my family in Texas at least once a month, spending more time with my loved ones and choosing to invest more time into my relationships with my family despite our distance!
One of my biggest goals was to invest in my fitness and my mental health. Like everyone else, sometimes this does fall to the backburner, but I have made it to at least two yoga classes a month, workout once a week (mentally or physically) and regularly meditate. I have also made it a point to really take the time to check in with myself and my feelings daily. We often go through life saying we are fine when asked, so trying to change this perspective and start being honest with myself and my friends has really helped my mental clarity. This has been one of the hardest goals to regularly incorporate into my life but I am working hard to make this a priority!
Lastly, as you may have seen on my Instagram, I have made investing in my finances a major priority this year. I am a recent LA transplant and I don’t think anything can prepare you for moving here. Nestled into this amazing west coast culture is a really stark and obvious wealth gap. I’ve seen some of the most beautiful homes occupied and owned by people who don’t look like me and then turned the next corner to see tents of people who do look like me lining the streets and sidewalks. Something that became really important to me in 2022 was improving financial literacy for my community. Check out my latest post about my investment in Public below:
I still have a lot of work to do but it's only March! We’re just getting started. Let’s reach our goals together!
